This tour is concentrated to the jewish tradition in Tuscany combined with an amazing kosher wine tasting in Chianti area.

Program:

9 AM : Departure for a confortable journey thought the Chianti countryside will take you till Siena, where you will be welcome by a local guide for the guided tour of the old city. Between narrow alleys and noble palaces, over the highest hill of the three hills of Siena, you will arrive in the historical centre of the town. From the historic headquarters of  Monte dei Paschi di Siena Bank, Salimbeni square, walk the main street, along which in medieval times merchants and moneychangers exerted sales activities, it until the Independence Square, on which are owned by Jewish families in the community, and the Piazza del Campo ( where is held the famous horse race, the Palio), the heart of the city. On this square you have eaten in ages past tragic events for the community (the killing of 13 Jews). Nearby, in the neighborhood of Salicotto, we find the old Jewish Ghetto, which existed until the mid-nineteenth century, and the Synagogue (approximately 2 hours).

About 1 PM: Departure for Castelnuovo Berardenga. ( optional kosher lunch here). A wine tasting tour of approximately 1-1,5 hours will be provided. Owners or the staff will accompany guests to the vineyard and the wine cellar explaining the wine production, from grapes to the wine, related to the Tuscan wine culture, organic procedures and to the kosher rules.

3 pm: Departure from Siena to Florence.Meeting with the Guide. Visit the beautiful Synagogue and Jewish Museum. Walking tour to the city center to discover the Jewish and Renaissance history from the XV to the XX Century in some of the most famous landmarks such as Duomo area (outdoor only), Piazza della Repubblica where the ghetto once stood, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio area were ‘Via dei Giudei’ (the ‘Jews street’) was. Visit to Academia Gallery (David by Michelangelo). Possible visit to Piazzale Michelangelo for the wonderful panorama view.

7 PM Departure for your location.
